The idea of parallel universes comes up often in philosophy. In most interpretations, these are physical other places that one could travel to. More recently, I have thought that the different tribes and groups that people join become their world. Interacting with another group is like interacting with another world. I’ve noticed in the different groups I hang out with that they often become familiar with their own vernacular but know little of another group’s ideas. So joining one group and learning with them deeply is like diving into a world in itself. Then diving deeply into another group is like traveling to another world. There is so much to learn from different people and if you are willing to explore, then other worlds are easily accessible.
